Yalobusha County is served by Yalobusha General Hospital and Nursing Home located in Water Valley, Mississippi. The hospital has two rural health clinics in Water Valley and one in Coffeeville, Mississippi.

The hospital is a newly renovated 26-bed facility. The hospital has full-time respiratory therapy, radiology, and laboratory departments. The facility serves the county with state-of-the art technology, including its 64-slice CT scanner, Logic GE ultrasound equipment, digital x-ray capabilities, and bone density scanning. The laboratory is CLIA certified and registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. The lab staff has over 30 years of clinical experience. In addition, the facility offers physical therapy services on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

Yalobusha General Hospital serves as a base for the Emergency Medical System in Yalobusha County. The EMS system is Advanced Life Support certified. Both the county and the facility support the EMS with staff and equipment to serve the entire county.

Staff

There are four physicians and six licensed nurse practitioners on staff to assess the needs of Yalobusha county citizens. The physicians specialize in areas such as dermatology, internal medicine, diabetes, and cardiology. The top five admitting diagnoses treated in Yalobusha County are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, nausea, vomiting and dehydration, and pneumonia.

Nursing Home

The facility also has an attached 120-bed nursing home. The latest addition to the nursing home was completed in 2004. The nursing home has an annual average occupancy rate of 92%.

Outpatient Clinic

Yalobusha General Hospital is scheduled to finish construction of a new outpatient clinic in August of 2009. This clinic will house five physicians and offer state-of-the art x-ray, ultrasound and bone density scanning as well as laboratory services.
